A Taste of Fort McMurray

Fort McMurray (August 24, 2012) – The third edition of A Taste of Fort McMurray, which was presented by Legacy Dodge, took place last night at the Suncor Community Leisure Centre. The event was a huge success with 400 tickets sold (event was sold out) and raised over $20,000 to help Volunteer Wood Buffalo achieve its goal.

Erika Hornsey, Executive Director at Volunteer Wood Buffalo said, “The event itself was a big hit! People really enjoyed trying samples from the different restaurants, many of which, they did not even know were in town. Plus, with the money raised from the event, we will be announcing some new very exciting projects that will promote, support and develop volunteerism in the region”

“We were happy to have so many great volunteers help organize the event. Not to mention the incredible sponsors, without whom the event would not have been possible. We are very thankful to everyone who worked to make this third edition of the event our best yet,” Hornsey said.

Last night’s event featured 16 restaurants, each one serving up a piece of culinary art. Participants were given ballots to vote for the restaurant that had the best sample presentation, tasting sample and booth presentation. Three awards were given out at the end of the event based on ballot votes. Hearthstone Grille at the Sawridge won the silver fork award for best sample presentation, Table 63 at Quality Hotel won the silver spoon award for best tasting sample and Chocolates and Candlelight won the silver knife award for best booth presentation.
